Back

I will explain in short how it went last year. They started breaking in July 2000; week 1 we have seen them 2 days, week 2 it was 1 day and after that they were closed for a month due to holiday and we were in the mess. After the holiday it went the same as before the holiday. We didn't had electricity upstairs for 3 weeks, so also no light and our doorbell didn't work for 2 months, we had to put a note at the door that the people should knock at the window!!!! We were luckily it was summer, because the heating hasn't worked for months and it took over a half year before the heating worked properly again and that is was warm in the hallway!!!!

Last year I got the following adjustments:
• Raised toilet with handles; the toilet in the hallway was too small, so they had to break it out and move it to the scullery so I could get at the toilet.
• Upstairs they made from 2 bedrooms 1; this because the bedroom has to be 18 m2 due to wheelchair-use and 1 bedroom was just too small. SO I got a real nice big bedroom with a couch for possible visitors.
• Intercom with electric door-opener upstairs at the bed
• Stair elevator
• Intercom with electric door-opener downstairs at the bed and this is what the government has forgotten so it's being done now... about 1 year after approval. If now someone rings at the door and Henk isn't at home I have to walk or towards the door to open it or go upstairs to open it with the intercom and considering the fact that I can't walk at all, that's a problem... how so not thinking of the government!!!!

The adjustments for this year are:
• Washbasin at the toilet downstairs; this they had with them but the wrong one... last year they put the pluming for a washbasin in the corner and now they came with a normal washbasin!!
• Handle on the toilet-door downstairs; so I can close the door instead of doing my need with the door open.
• Handle on the wall at the toilet downstairs; so I have a better grip when transferring from wheelchair to toilet.
• Long spout joystick control basin mixer; because I don't get a normal tap open and because it hurts too much at my hands.
• Raised toilet with handles upstairs.
• Intercom upstairs is being moved, because now I have to go out of bed to use it and this is something I can't do.... again something stupid!!!

And you know what is completely stupid? I had already asked for all this in February 2000, but they just forgot to treat the half. So I had to ask for it again and again had to be examined and so that's why it takes so long and cost the government extra money. They had even forgotten the wheelchair for upstairs and after several calls I finally got it this year.

I also had asked for an electric wheelchair in December 2000. Due to the holidays I called them end of January, because I hadn't heard anything yet. No of course not, the WVG-clerk from back then didn't work anymore at the WVG and hadn't treated my request, so I had to appeal for it again.
