Tuesday August 2 they brought my new wheelchair. After some phone-calls I luckily didn't need to appeal for this one again. The new wheelchair is much more comfortable, so it's also called a comfort wheelchair. Who knows, if I would had this one a few years earlier I maybe could have left the house once in awhile.
The intercom in the living room was finally placed around 13.00h at Thursday August 9. This actually would have happened before my boat trip, but of course they didn't kept their promise. But well, as from today I finally have an intercom. Now Henk can also leave once in awhile when I expect a visitor, he doesn't need to stay at home anymore to open the door.
Tuesday August 14 they came to see what has to be done yet, this they would finish as quickly as possible.
The next day
the boss from the company (the contractor) and someone from the government came to check the closed veranda to see how they have to adjust it for my electric wheelchair without too much money being spent. I still don't have my electric wheelchair yet, but the closed veranda is already being fixed and I don't get the electric wheelchair on trial first. The company who has to deliver that electric wheelchair didn't agree with it. It actually makes sense, because that wheelchair is being adjusted especially for me and if they get it back they can't do anything with it. There is at least not much chance that someone has the exact same measures as I have and who also needs the exact same wheelchair.
Wednesday August 22 at 09.50h was the hearing. I had appealed for a transportation vehicle for my electric wheelchair. The doctor who examined me said as he left that the so-called call-bus isn't an option for me. However as I got the papers from the government, it appeared that he had written down something really different, namely that the call-bus IS suitable for me and of course the government agreed to this because it's much cheaper. Here in Holland when you are in a wheelchair you can ask your government for transportation (the normal busses aren't adjusted to wheelchairs). When you have to go somewhere you call a certain number and they will pick you up. In that bus are of course more disabled people (wheelchair or not able to walk far etc.) and they of course use stuff like perfume etc and this I am allergic to, so I will only get even more sick in that bus and second you have to sit upright in your wheelchair and this is something I can't, that's why I have an electric decline wheelchair.
I phoned my SPD-consultant and he looked at the report together with a lawyer from the SPD. They came to the conclusion that the report wasn't correct and the doctor also contradicted himself and that's why there was a hearing. However because I can't sit up long enough for the hearing, the lawyer went by herself to the hearing. The only way for me to be there would be with an ambulance on a brancard and this didn't seem to us a good idea... at least you don't know how the government will react to this. The lawyer however told this at the hearing. During the hearing the government asked for all the papers as for buying the car (because the examiner told us that own transportation would be the best solution for me, we already went looking for another car and also bought one, namely a GMC Vandura 2500) and adjustments as for transporting the electric wheelchair. The government will now look if they will pay the adjustments and/or they will partially pay the purchase. So it looks positive.
Meanwhile it's already September and the company still hasn't started yet with finishing the adjustments. Henk has again called them several times and each time they say they will start next week... but thus they don't!!
In the covered veranda will come a broader door so I can easily ride through with the electric wheelchair. This door is being ordered and it will take 6 weeks before they have it. I am curious when they will start if they have it. The government has also impelled them to fix the adjustments more quickly. They also think it takes much too long, however they can't do more then impelling them. I am still lucky that the government impels them, because normally they don't do anything about these kinds of situations.
