Painkillers

From May till August (2001) I have had only liquid food. The year before, in august 2000 Henk and I had a car accident. Someone hit us from behind. I went to the hospital with the ambulance, they examined me, took some X-rays and then I could go home. Since that day I am much more sick and dizzy. I slowly start eating less (without noticing it) because of the nausea. After a while I started even getting sick of smelling food, so I started eating even more less and it was hard for me to still eat a bit. After some time I even couldn’t see food without having problems not to vomit.
I went for help as I even couldn’t snoop anymore – not even when having my period. I now have a food aversion, because I went for help too late. Meanwhile it’s now over one year that I don’t eat much, because of this I have lost 30 kilos! In the beginning I didn’t mind losing weight, cause I was a bit too heavy. The dietist wanted to give me tube feeding, but my gp suspects that the nausea is from the tramadol. So now I have to decrease the tramadol according to a tight scheme.
Because the pain has increased I slowly took more and more tramadol, while my weight decreased. According to my gp I was poisoning myself.
I stopped using liquid food on Friday 24 august. I have quit by myself, because I only felt worse of it. The liquid food was namely made of dairy product such as yogurt and whipped cream. According to the dietist I couldn’t react on the lactose, because I didn’t eat enough of the liquid, barely 300 ml a day. However after I stopped, the puffy feeling was gone the next day, my headaches were tolerable after a week, the nausea became less and even the pain was a bit less. It’s now however each time a problem with eating, I do have hunger sometimes but what do I have to eat?

Week 1
Wednesday 29 August I started declining the tramadol as followed:
1 week 4 tramadols each day (lately it were 6) at 08.00 - 14.00 - 20.00 and 02.00 hours. Luckily I may still use diclofenac.

It’s now Tuesday 4 September and tomorrow I start with the second week. Looking back I have to say that it went pretty well although I regularly had the urge to walk up against the wall because of the pain. Considering this I am lucky that I can’t walk anymore. However my bed is against the wall, so if necessary I can thump my head against the wall. The first day I had a terrible adrenalin rush due to the alarm clock. The hours 08.00 and 02.00 are not really my times, so I had to set the alarm clock. The adrenalin rush lasted for almost the whole day (heart fluttering, feeling of floating, more sick, more dizzy, feeling of fainting). We solved this as followed; I put in my earplugs and Henk awakes me carefully, so that I don’t frighten and not getting any trouble with my adrenalin.
