Wednesday 5 September, 2nd week declining scheme:
1 week 3 tramadol at 08.00 - 16.00 and 24.00 hours and at 08.00 neurontin 100 mg.
Immediately that Wednesday I had more pain, the day after even more. Friday 7 September I finally called my gp that I couldn’t take this pain anymore. I have waited calling, because neurontin maybe needs some time to work. Neurontin may not raise too quick. Well, this is not what I was thinking of, cause I even don’t know yet if neurontin works at all. So I proposed to take tramadol again 4 times a day. This was okay, however the gp suspects that it won’t help because the pain can get worse in the beginning of using neurontin. So I took Friday 4 tramadols and I immediately adapted the hours. I didn’t considered this with my gp, but I think that this doesn’t matter cause it’s all about a tight scheme. From now on I take tramadol at 11.00 - 17.00 - 05.00 and 11.00 hours and at 11.00 hours neurontin. I made the choice for 11.00 hours, because I than have the most chance that I am awake. I always awake between 10.00 and 13.00 hours, but I can’t take a later time because I rest from 17.00 till 20.00 hours.
As I type this it’s Saturday and I have to say that the pain is now a bit more tolerable. By taking 4 tramadols distractions helps again a bit against the pain and it didn’t the past days. I have the following side affects from neurontin: headache, feverish and muscle spasms. I usually have these symptoms also, but now more… of course it also could be coincidence. A new symptom is the feeling that my legs are freezing cold and because of this numbness. However if I touch them they feel warm except my knees, they are cold indeed. I have regularly insensibility, but never the feeling of freezing cold.
Looking back I have to say that I had less pain due to 4 tramadols instead of 3. I still have the side affects, if they are side affects.
Wednesday 12 September, 3rd week declining scheme:
1 week 3 tramadols at 11.00 - 19.00 and -03.00 hours (this actually would already be last week) and neurontin at 11.00 and 23.00 hours.
It’s now Sunday 16 September and it’s difficult to say how I am doing with this scheme. This because last Wednesday (the first day of the 3rd week declining scheme) at 07.30 hours some men ringed the doorbell, they came for the adaptions in our house (see 'Misery with WVG-adjustments - part 8'). This time is much too early for me and I have felt this too and I still feel it. I totally collapsed Wednesday and Thursday: consciousness descending till almost coma, due to complete paralysis I wasn’t able to talk/move or whatever. Both times lasted for 4,5 hours before I was back in the world a bit. I collapsed Friday again, but this time luckily without paralysis although I didn’t had (much) control over my muscles. This time it also lasted for 4,5 hours. Since Saturday I haven’t collapsed anymore, but I am really tired and have a lot of pain. Due to this I can’t tell if the aggravation of pain is due to the past days (I always have more pain after collapsing) or because I use 1 tramadol less… probably it’s both. Till now I can cope the pain, so I haven’t called my gp to tell him this. There is an advantage of being completely paralysed… you don’t feel any pain. In any case everything is real far away during such a ‘coma’, you don’t experience things like they should… that’s why I speak of ‘being back in the world’.
Since I use neurontin twice a day the muscle spasms have worsened, but this can also be from the collapsing. Furthermore I still have headaches and I am still feverish. I don’t know if these are side affects of the neurontin or if it’s coincidence, they are at last my normal daily burden. I also still have the freezing cold in my legs, I suspect that this is a side affect of neurontin.
Then something funny: Monday night at 03.00 hours the alarm clock went off to take tramadol. In the morning I had tremendous pain and I didn’t understand it, till it showed that I had NOT taken the tramadol at 03.00 hours… I only turned off the alarm clock and kept on sleeping. It took some days till the pain was at the normal level again.
